A New Research Centre for CIT
A new CIT multidisciplinary research centre which is currently in the final stages of the design process and will shortly go to the planning permission stage. The Centre for Research in Advanced Therapeutic Engineering (CREATE) is funded under the Government’s “Programme for Research in Third Level Institutions”. The Centre will be located in a new 1500m2 building which will facilitate and promote multidisciplinary research, teaching and learning and knowledge exchange through the careful design of both its physical environment and management structure.

CIT Graduate appointed CEO of PM Group
CIT is delighted to congratulate Dave Murphy as he takes up his new role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PM Group. Dave is a Chemical Engineering graduate of Cork Institute of Technology (1985) and also holds an MSc in Executive Leadership from the University of Ulster (2007). He is also a member of the CIT Alumni Association Committee.

CIT Graduate wins Eircom Spiders Website of the Year Award
Laura Tangney, a graduate of Tourism and Hospitality Studies (1999) recently won the Eircom Spiders Website of the Year award 2011, in the Best Travel, Tourism and Hospitality catergory. The website, KillarneyonaMap is operated by Laura Tangney and Stephen O'Sullivan both from Killarney who fought off immense competition from Fáilte Ireland, Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Roomex and The Guinness Storehouse.

Entrepreneurship Support for CIT Alumni
The CIT Alumni Association has joined forces with the on campus Incubation Centre, the Rubicon Centre and CIT’s Entrepreneur in Residence, Kieran Moynihan to offer the CIT alumni community various entrepreneurial support services. There are a number of possibilities and ways to go about setting up a business if you have an idea. As your opinion matters we would like to know what type of entrepreneurial support you would like to receive and how (remotely, on-campus workshops, mentoring, specific training, etc.) Please complete the short survey on the right (4 questions) if you would be interested in receiving entrepreneurship support from CIT.

Launch of new 'CIT Alumni Library Card'
The CIT Alumni Association recently launched the new CIT Alumni Library Card which offers graduates access to the CIT library, self-service photocopying facilities via a top-up and PCs in the library at CIT. The card is now available to all registered CIT graduates. The CIT Alumni Library card entitles you to borrow four items from the main lending category in the library.

Careers Advisory Service for CIT Graduates
The CIT Alumni Association and the Careers and Counselling Service at CIT is now offering a specific Careers Advisory Service for all CIT Graduates who are registered with the CIT Alumni Association. Graduates can contact the Careers and Counselling Service at CIT to make an appointment to meet with a Careers Advisor. The Careers Advisory Service is a free, integrated and confidential service committed to supporting and encouraging CIT Graduates to reach their professional, academic and personal potential.
